Hands-On Cooking Class

It’s no secret that we love biscuits here at The Baker’s Pin.  One of our vary favorite treats, biscuits are home cooking at it’s core.  Many restaurants make them, but few master them.  Regionally they vary, but we all have our favorites In this hands-on workshop we’ll make a variety of biscuits, exploring types of flour, fats and dairy.  We’ll pair our biscuits with some classic and favorite dishes, but with lighter ingredients.

Cat’s Head

Skillet made or free-style, common in the Smokey Mountains and across Appalachia these biscuits should be the size of a kitten’s head.

Buttermilk Biscuits

Cut, drop, or folded and laminated, this is a classic recipe that we all should keep at hand.

Cream Biscuits

A rolled biscuit that uses the fat in the heavy cream instead of butter or shortening.

Thyme and White Bean Pot Pie Hearty white beans sautéed with mushrooms simmered in a rich stock will be topped with rolled cheddar cheese buttermilk biscuit.

Biscuits and Gravy A southern classic, we’ll prepare this breakfast staple with a country style homemade turkey sausage
